Steven Bovio, O.D.
Dr. Steven Bovio gained extensive knowledge and experience from working at one of the largest eye-care specialty clinics in Florida. He also treated many of the Florida State University athletic teams in Tallahassee, gaining specialized experience in the demands of sports vision.
In October 1999, Dr. Bovio took over the practice of Dr. Russell Thompson and developed what is now known as the Gulf Coast Eye Center. The practice provides primary eye care for all ages. Treatment ranges from the latest contact lenses, glaucoma treatment, cataract detection with pre-and post-operative care, macular degeneration detection, dry eye syndrome treatment and eye emergencies. There is a large selection of eyeglasses with the latest types of lenses.
Dr. Bovio received his B.S. in Biology from the University of South Florida and his Doctor of Optometry from Nova Southeastern University. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, Florida Optometric Association and Manasota Optometric Society. Dr. Bovio also provides eye care at no cost to underprivileged children through Jeppesen Vision Quest.
