Lissa V. Rivero, O.D.
A board certified optometric physician and low vision specialist, Dr. Lissa V. Rivero earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Inter American University School of Optometry in Puerto Rico, where she graduated cum laude. Dr. Rivero then completed a one-year residency program in Primary Care and Low Vision Rehabilitation at the Veterans Administration Medical Center and Eastern Blind Rehabilitation Center in West Haven, Connecticut. Honors include Alcon's Contact Lens Achievement Award, IAU School of Optometry Academic Excellence Award, and recognition for outstanding leadership at the School of Optometry.
Dr. Rivero is a native of San Juan, Puerto Rico where she grew up and did most of her schooling. Dr. Rivero has been in the United States since June of 1997 and has practiced optometry in Connecticut, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Puerto Rico before moving to Sarasota, FL.
Dr. Rivero is a member of the American and Florida Optometric Associations and the Latin American Medical Association of Manasota. She is actively involved with the Florida Division of Blind Services and the Manasota Lighthouse for the Blind. Dr. Rivero is fluent in English and Spanish.
